Our client in West Bridgewater, MA is seeking an experienced Custodian to maintain the cleanliness of their manufacturing company full-time
Position summary: The Custodian is responsible for performing custodial duties, minor maintenance, and other miscellaneous duties to ensure that buildings and facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe, and sanitary manner.
Qualifications required:
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Willingness to be part of a team
· Good communication and organizational skills
Essential functions and responsibilities:
· Performs general, routine custodial duties, to include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies
· Performs routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies
· Empties trash receptacles, hazard bins into a hazard barrel, disposes trash into compactors and/or dumpsters, and bags trash for proper disposal
· Ensure common areas such as break rooms, lobbies, and kitchenettes are cleaned and stocked
· Maintain breakroom
· Follow instructions about chemical use and safety hazards in the workplace
· Wash and buff floors including the manufacturing facility
· Ensure cleaning materials and supplies are stored safely and orderly
· Maintain, submit a purchase requisition, and restock cleaning materials and supplies
· Make note of the need for equipment repair
· Report any potential food safety, quality or food defense concerns to the plant manager or quality personnel
· Maintain product safety, legality, regulatory compliance, and quality systems
· Follow all documented Good Manufacturing Practices
· Must follow all company policies and procedures
Essential skills and experience:
· Ability to operate vacuums and other related equipment
· Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies
· Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade
· Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects
· Ability to understand written and verbal instructions
· Other duties as required
Success factors/job competencies:
· Proficient at time management
· Ability to work with little supervision
· Good attitude
Physical demands and work environment:
· Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
· Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risk, which require following basic safety precautions. Employee may also be required to wear safety glasses and/or safety gloves.
· Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. May be exposed to high noise levels that required hearing protection.
