Job Description
Position SummaryThe Developmental Specialist provides direct support to individuals with developmental and related disabilities in a Day Habilitation setting. Responsibilities include implementing Day Habilitation Service Plan (DHSP) goals, supporting daily living and community-based activities, documenting progress, and promoting independence, safety, and overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities
- Implement DHSP goals and therapeutic activities tailored to individual needs and abilities.
- Support individuals with communication, socialization, personal care, mobility, and daily living skills.
- Facilitate meaningful community, recreational, volunteer, and habilitation activities.
- Maintain accurate documentation, data collection, progress notes, and incident reports.
- Promote a safe, respectful, and person-centered environment using Positive Behavioral Supports (PBS).
- Collaborate with families, caregivers, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Transport individuals to approved community-based activities as assigned.
- Follow all agency policies, safety procedures, and confidentiality standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum one year of experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record required.
- Successful background check required.
- Bilingual Portuguese skills are a plus.
