The Line Lead - Welder is responsible for leading the effective operation of the welding production line. He/she is responsible for safety, quality and productivity to meet the departmental goals. The Line Lead - Welder is responsible to maintain a safe working environment and produce quality products. The Line Lead Welder must have the desire to perform at the highest level of competence and expedience at all times to ensure the overall productivity and growth of the company.


The following is a brief description of some of the duties and responsibilities but is not limited to:

Organize and lead the team to achieve the daily production schedule.
Respond to start up issues.
Ensure the line is properly prepared for changeovers.
Ensure the production data is properly collected and maintained.
Responsible to oversee that good welding practices meet all quality standards and specifications.
Responsible to oversee the Standard Work Instructions are being adhered to.
Responsible for daily inventory transactions and weekly cycle counts are being completed.
Reporting staffing conditions to the Production Supervisor.
Communicate with the production supervisor and associates to maintain a safe environment by following company safety policies and procedures.
Monitors daily that all associates are wearing their safety personal protective equipment PPE to maintain a safe work environment.
Take an active role on stations needing additional manpower.
Report equipment failures to the Maintenance Department through work orders.
Work with maintenance to ensure preventive maintenance is performed in a timely manner on the line s production equipment.
Suggests production and quality improvement ideas to the Production Supervisor.
Maintains tools and equipment in good working order.
Review scrap and re-work .
Ensure new employees are trained and that existing employees are properly cross-trained in multiple areas in all department functions.
Review and order supplies.
Support continuous improvement.
Maintain the 6S program.


The following is a brief description of the technical expertise duties but is not limited to:

Experienced in both Tig & Mig welding processes.
Ability to operate various welding machines and understand the equipment functions and setup.
Ability to communicate and interact effectively in all situations.
